Dilsukhnagar Arena, India’s Largest Digital Media Academy celebrated the 2012 edition of Pixellence Awards, an annual extravaganza aimed at recognizing and honoring shining Digital Media talent, at Hyderabad on Thursday, the 26th of January, 2012 from 4. p.m. to 8 p.m. amidst scores of students, parents and staff.

Pixellence Awards-2012 commenced at 4 p.m. with the customary address and presentation on Dilsukhnagar Arena (The flagship of the Creative Multimedia Group-India’s only Digital Media Academy backed by full-service Animation and VFX studios) by the CEO, Mr. Raja Sekhar Buggaveeti.

The prestigious Pixellence Awards which are synonymous with Digital Media Excellence were presented to 31 talented students of Dilsukhnagar Arena in various categories of Animation, VFX, Web and Graphics by the CEO, amidst thunderous applause.

Pixellence was at its enthralling best as students, staff and even the CEO of Dilsukhnagar Arena passionately took to the stage with scintillating performances to make it a truly memorable day. A troupe of tiny tots dressed in silky whites appeared magically on stage like angels and stole the show with a heart-touching song-dance performance.

Post the awards distribution ceremony, Mr. Raja Sekhar thanked all the students, volunteers, performers and staff for gracing the celebrations and making it a grand success.

‘Feel the Punch’, an Animation short film crafted by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena was declared winner of the ‘Best Film Award’ in the 3D Space (Animation) Awards Category of the Bit Film-12 Digital Film Festival on 25 November, 2011.

An extremely funny short film, ‘Feel the Punch’ was conceived and animated by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena as part of their industry-oriented Animation training program. The Academy offers revolutionary Animation training and has been setting the standards in Digital Media Education ever since inception in 1998.

Students of the Academy have been dominating the awards circuit and have brought home 37 prestigious awards so far at various national and international film festivals: the latest being 'Feel the Punch'.

By far the most popular film in its category in India, ‘Feel the Punch’ is a rage on Youtube with its video having registered over 8.5 clicks (8,54,947 as on Nov 26, 2011). No other film in this category has been able to even come close to this extreme adulation on Youtube. What’s more, Dilsukhnagar Arena has won seven coveted awards so far: another impressive and unrivalled achievement. Dilsukhnagar Arena students walked away with the ‘Best 3D Animation Short Film Award’ in the ‘Student Category’ of the ASIFA India Awards of Excellence -2011 for their film ‘Twisted’ which was declared the winner at the awards night held on the evening of Sunday the 6th of November, 2011 at Mumbai.

The award marks the film’s debut at the awards circuit. ‘Twisted’ features a hilarious episode between a master and his pet. The film enjoyed a grand launch by three time national award winner and VFX Supervisor of the iconic Rajnikanth film ‘Robo’, Mr. Srinivas Mohan during Dilsukhnagar Arena’s 13th Anniversary Celebrations.

Dilsukhnagar Arena students once again demonstrated their class at the awards circuit by capturing two nominations in the Student Category of ASIFA’s IAD-2011 Awards of Excellence for their 3D Animation Short Films ‘Twisted’ and ‘Cecelia – The Balcony Girl’. The winners will be declared at a sparkling function to be held at Mumbai on November 6, 2011.

Out of a total of 12 nominations in the Student Category, Dilsukhnagar Arena captured two nominations, the highest by any Academy at these Awards.

Both films are comic thrillers with distinct themes. The films were crafted by Dilsukhnagar Arena studetns as part of the internship program at DNA Inc. (Dilsukhnagar Arena Incubation), the talent transformation initiative of the Academy which aims to groom studio-ready CG Artists.

Hamburg raises a toast to "Feel the punch"

It is a matter of great pride for all of us at Dilsukhnagar Arena that the enchanting 3D character ‘Mona’ in our immensely popular and successful Student Short Film ‘Feel the punch’ was featured prominently as a poster at the inaugural of the Bitfilm-12 festival in Germany. Amidst a starry array of entries from across the world, it is indeed a great honour and a tribute to our training standards that our film/character was chosen for the official poster at the launch venue. It may be recalled that ‘Feel the punch’ has already won a coveted nomination at this prestigious international film festival along with our other student short film ‘Hugo Vs Lino’.

Bitfilm's opening event took place in Hamburg, Germany's media capital and Bitfilm's hometown on Monday, the 17th of October, 2011. Ms. M. Subashini, Consule General of India in Hamburg lit the "lamp of the festival" to commence the celebrations. The opening program featured highlights from the three competitions.

‘Feel the punch’, a hilarious short film crafted by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena Animation was honoured with a prestigious nomination at the Annual Bit Film Digital Film Festival, Hamburg, Germany.

After Monstra-2011 Lisbon Animated Film Festival in Portugal, this is the second international nomination for ‘Feel the punch’. The film has already created a record of sorts by capturing seven coveted awards till date apart from emerging a rage on You Tube with its video registering well over 8 lakh clicks (8,23,401) till date (13 Oct, 2011).

Feel the punch is a 3D Animation Short Film which presents a funny encounter between a youngster, a girl and a beggar.

Pixel FX added another film to its VFX repertoire with Superstar Mahesh Babu’s latest blockbuster 'Dookudu' which enjoyed an international release today. Dilsukhnagar Arena, India’s Largest Digital Media Academy celebrated its 13^th Anniversary at Hyderabad on Sunday, the 17^th of July, 2011.

Mr. Srinivas Mohan, VFX Expert of 'Indian Artists' and three-time national award winner graced the event as the Chief Guest while Mr. Naveen Medaram, VFX expert from UK and a highly successful alumnus of Dilsukhnagar Arena along with Mr. Basireddy, CEO of ‘Digi Quest Studios’ attended the extravaganza as Guests of Honour.

Dilsukhnagar Arena hogs the limelight at SFFV-2011; Wins 5 awards for its Animation short films.

Dilsukhnagar Arena made its presence felt at The Short Film Festival of Vijayawada (SFFV) -2011 by winning 5 awards. The festival was held on April 5 and 6, 2011 at KL Rao Bhavan, Governorpet, Vijayawada.

Dilsukhnagar Arena’s student Animation Short Film ‘Trashhed’ bagged the ‘Silver Krishnaveni Award’ for Best Short Film. Mr. Malladi Vishnu, MLA, Vijayawada Central presented the Silver Krishnaveni Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 to Dilsukhnagar Arena in the presence of Mr. Jampa Krishna Kishore – Vijayawada Film Society Secretary and C. Uma Maheshwara Rao – Jury chairman and Film Director.

This is the second accolade for the Animation short Film ‘Trashhed’. The film previously won the first prize at the International Film Festival, Nagpur apart from two prestigious nominations at the Aarohi film festival, Mumbai and the 16th International Children’s Film Festival, Mumbai. The film ‘Trashhed’ uses humour to stress upon the need to keep our surroundings clean. The film was created by Pranay Bura, Ravi Kiran Reddy, Srinivas Reddy and Varun Kumar, four students from Dilsukhnagar Arena.

Four other Animation films - ‘Chamki’, ‘A Garden Dream’, ‘Fuel Duel’ and ‘Feel the Punch’ created by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena won Special Campus Prizes at SFFV-2011, taking Dilsukhnagar Arena’s tally to an unbelievable five. Each of these films received a cash prize and a Certificate of Merit.

SFFV-2011 attracted 117 entries in the open category from budding film makers across the country: Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Gujarat, Goa and other states.

About the festival

The Short Film Festival of Vijayawada SFFV-2011 was organized by The Vijayawada Film Society (VIFISO) in association with Andhra Pradesh State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation (APSFTvTDC). The two-day festival was held at The Institute of Engineers India, K.L.Rao Bhavan, Governorpet, Vijayawada. Screening of nominated films happened on the first day. The awards ceremony was held at 6.00pm on April 6, 2011.

The MONSTRA | Lisbon Animated Film Festival is a venue where animated film meets other media and other arts, aiming to participate in the expansion of multiple aesthetic and narrative readings, possible due to its cinematographic, technological and creative aspects. In 2011, the admitted categories for the competition are Animated Feature Film and Student Animated Short Film.

Chosen for BEST OF THE WORLD/SHORTS Sessions of the MONSTRA - Lisbon Animated Film festival.

3 prestigious awards and one nomination later, there’s no dip in Chamki’s appetite for awards as the film now targets an international award as the ‘Best Animated Short Film’ at Monstra 2011, Lisbon. Chamki’s chances improved after the selection committee of the Lisbon Animated Film festival announced that the film was chosen for BEST OF THE WORLD/SHORTS Sessions of the MONSTRA 2011 to be held from the 21st until the 27th of March 2011 at Lisbon , Portugal .

It was only last month that ‘Chamki’ bagged the 2^nd prize at UNICEF-Awaaz Do contest. It’s now ready to capture another prestigious award on the 27^th of March, 2011 when the international jury of the Lisbon Animated Film festival announces the winner in the student Animation films category.

‘Chamki’ is a 2D Animation short film espousing the cause of the neglected girl child in India . The film attempts to create awareness on the crying need for educating the underprivileged girl child in our society thereby gifting her a bright future.

A team of 3 students from Dilsukhnagar Arena Animation - Nupur Agarwal, Govinda Ramesh Gujar and Raj Sekhar Nayani made the film. It took them 90 days to complete it. After winning the 1st Prize at the Arena Best & Brightest Awards-09, Mumbai and the 3rd Prize at the International Film Festival-09 at Nagpur , Chamki, the 2D Animation short film crafted by Dilsukhnagar Arena students made another dash for awards and collected the 2nd Prize at the UNICEF-Awaaz Do Contest.

The Awaaz Do Contest launched by UNICEF, with the support of the Government of India aims to mobilize Indian society to speak up for the more than eight million children currently out of school in the country. The initiative is a ripe platform to reach the excluded and marginalized groups such as child labourers, children with special needs or those who suffer from social, economical, gender or other disadvantages. The passing of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009 marks a historic moment for the children of India . Millions of children, both girls and boys, will benefit from the RTE Act ensuring quality education with equity.

Dilsukhnagar Arena celebrated the new edition of its annual Pixellence awards at Nimantran Palace , Nagole X Roads, Hyderabad on Sunday, the 30^th of January, 2011. The venue wore a festive look and was dotted with life-size displays of the 3D Character Models and posters of Short films created by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena. Excitement was in the air as the 1500-seater air-conditioned auditorium was packed to capacity well before the celebrations began.

Pixellence Awards aims at recognizing and honouring outstanding CG talent in Animation, Visual Effects and Web.

The celebrations kicked off at 4.00 pm with an enthralling dance performance by a student. A string of entertaining performances including some hilarious skits, slapstick comedy and stand-up comedy bits and Television show Spoofs added to the entertainment quotient. The highlights of the celebrations were a high-voltage, applause-amplifying, foot-thumping group dance performance by an ensemble cast comprising students and staff apart from a singing spree by Mr. L. Satyanarayana (fondly addressed as Satyam Sir), a senior Adobe-Certified mentor at Dilsukhnagar Arena who arrested the audience with his mellifluous voice and literally stole the show with his authentic rendition of the foot-tapping ever-green numbers ‘Dil Kaa Aalam’ and ‘Ab Tere Bin’ from the smash-hit ‘Aashiqui’.

A few Dilsukhnagar Arena alumni addressed the students and inspired them with their career experiences and success stories. They recalled their old days at Dilsukhnagar Arena and expressed their gratitude to the MD & CEO, Mr. Raja Sekhar Buggaveeti for providing the ideal platform for pursuing a successful career. The celebrations climaxed to the Awards distribution ceremony with 40 students receiving Pixellence Awards for their outstanding work in various categories of Digital Art. Over 400 entries were received and given the high quality of submissions, the jury had a tough time picking the winners.

Pixellence Awards-2010 also witnessed the launch of ‘Cecelia – The Balcony Girl’, a High-Definition 3D Animation short film crafted by a team of Animation interns at Dilsukhnagar Arena Incubation – the Animation internship initiative of Dilsukhnagar Arena devoted to grooming industry-ready CG talent.

The 2D Animation short film ‘The Farmer and His Goat’ outshone 13 short films at the Nasik International Film Festival-2010 to capture the Golden Camera Award (Dadasaheb Phalke Janmabhumi Puraskar) for Best Animation film.

Having won five prestigious awards earlier, this is the sixth award for ‘The Farmer and His Goat’ – a 2D Animation short film crafted by 3 budding Animation students of Dilsukhnagar Arena. A film with a sense of purpose, ‘The Farmer and His Goat’ sends out a strong message against animal sacrifice; one of the most ghastly practices still prevalent in India .

Govind Rajewar, Sachin Punde and Parag Warade, three budding Animation students of Dilsukhnagar Arena had to craft a film as part of their Animation course at Dilsukhnagar Arena, Hyderabad and decided to make the project a meaningful one. The effort paid off as the film won 6 prestigious awards. The most recent award was at The Nasik International Film Festival held between Janauary 20 and 23, 2010. The film was ideated and animated by a team of 25 students at Dilsukhnagar Arena in just 70 days. The budding team of animators crafted the film in a real-time production environment as part of their intensive internship program.

'Feel the punch' is creating waves on the internet as its video hosted on YouTube has registered a staggering 2,50,000 clicks in a very short time and is all set to create a record for any short film in its category. The film has been screened specially for select audiences and also at various film festivals. No screening has ended without the audience bursting into thunderous applause and demanding an encore.

It latest recognition at the 24 FPS Animation awards comes as no surprise. The 7th Annual 24 FPS Animation awards were held at the SRPF Grounds in Goregaon, Mumbai on November 19, 2010. The Awards showcased the best animation & VFX work in Hollywood , Bollywood, gaming and commercials. The prestigious event had nominations not only from young Animators and studios in India but also from countries like China, France, Germany and the US.

Hugo Vs Lino: an award-winning battle from Dilsukhnagar Arena

Hugo Vs Lino – the sci-fi, action short from Dilsukhnagar Arena hoisted the ‘v’ sign as it captured the ‘Best Animation Film’ at ‘THE NATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL-TEN MINUTES TO FAME’ organized by IMT Nagpur in association with Ten Motion Arts and Cyrus Dastur’s Shamiana on 15th and 16th October, 2010.

Hugo Vs Lino is a High-Definition 3D Animation short film created by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena. Featuring high technical values, this sci-fi action film dwells on a man-cyborg duel. A team of 25 budding animators slogged tirelessly through the production-pipeline to wrap up the project in 60 days.

All entries for the awards at the festival were viewed by a preview committee and selection was completed by October 12, 2010. The top 20 films were screened on 15th and 16th of October 2010 to the judging
committee and a packed audience in the theatre of IMT Nagpur after which Hugo Vs Lino was declared the winner in the Animation category.

The award acknowledges the creative brilliance and professional craftsmanship that the young team of students at Dilsukhnagar Arena demonstrated through the film. On Septemebr 28, the final day of the 4-day Short & Documentary Film Festival of Hyderabad-2010 held at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad, Dilsukhnagar Arena emerged victorious with two prestigious awards for its Animation films – Best Animation Film Award for “Hugo vs Lino” and Special Jury Award for “Feel the Punch”: both are High-Definition 3D Animation Short Films crafted by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena.

While this is the first award for “Hugo vs Lino”, the film “Feel the punch” already has a very prestigious award to its credit-The TASI Viewer’s Choice Award at India ’s biggest International Film Festival – Anifest India-2010. Two other student short films from Dilsukhnagar Arena were honoured with special screenings at the Short & Documentary Film Festival of Hyderabad-2010 organized by Hyderabad Film Club.

Veterans of the Telugu film industry Dr. D.Ramanaidu, Mrs. Jayasudha & Comedian AVS and the FDC Chairman Mr. Parthasaradhi gave away the awards to the winners.

The Hyderabad Film Club with the support of Andhra Pradesh State Film, Television & Theatre Development Corporation organized the Short & Documentary Film Festival of Hyderabad-2010 from September 24 to 28 at Hyderabad. The festival aims to map and reflect the exploding nature of the medium in its many facets of creativity and resistance. SDFFH-2010 attracted scores of entries across categories from film enthusiasts all over India .

Not less than 100 good short films and documentaries were screened at the festival and also some best foreign short and documentary films were also shown as part of the festival which turned out to be the favorite event of film lovers of Hyderabad . Animal sacrifice is an cruel practice still existing in the hinterlands of India. “The farmer and his goat”, a film by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena, is an attempt at discouraging this atrocity using empathy and retribution as the stimulants, the message being – “Sacrifice the cruelty, not the animal”.

Bee In The Bonnet - DNA Inc. Students Short Film

Story:
Cruising along a highway, Bob’s Cadillac grinds to an abrupt halt. A corpulent guy, he tumbles out of the car and opens the bonnet to suss out the glitch but is surprised that everything’s in order. He gets behind the wheel to resume his journey but, adamantly, the car won’t budge and the bonnet plonks open on its own volition.

Eerily, the bonnet starts playing “You shut-I open” with Bob many times over until he discovers the mischief-monger – a bee in the bonnet. The bee gives Bob a hard time as it stings, boos and evades him. After draining Bob of his patience and driving him mad, the bee finally flies away. An exasperated Bob watches helplessly.

Yugupurushudu - DNA Inc. Students Short Film

Story:
The story revolves around the untimely death of Dr. Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) - the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh who had initiated numerous “Health, Poverty-alleviation and Emergency Medical Care Schemes” for the benefit of underprivileged citizens and accident-prone victims of Andhra Pradesh. By mitigating suffering and pain and improving the quality of life of the people of Andhra Pradesh, these schemes have led to a lower death rate. Impressed by the nobility of YSR, Lord Yama grants him a wish, to which Y.S.R responds with folded hands: “Please send me back to Earth. I wish to complete the numerous welfare schemes that legions of my brothers and sisters have come to expect of me. They need me”. Touched by this selfless wish, Lord Yama sends Y.S.R to his rightful place in Heaven saying that the presence of such noble souls will elevate Heaven.

Arena Dilsukhnagar extends a helping hand to the flood-affected citizens of Kallugotla Village

On Saturday, the 10^th of October, 2009, a team of 18 volunteers comprising 17 staff and 1 student set off from Hyderabad at 8.00pm to Kallugotla Village (220 kms from Hyderabad) in Mahabobnagar district to provide food and essential items to victims of the flood-ravaged district. Our team distributed 200 survival kits to 200 families of Kallugotla Village & returned to base at 6 pm the same day.

Kallugotla was almost submerged by the floods as is evident in the mud-line on the walls of houses revealing the exact height upto which flood water rose.

One person – an elderly man amongst the beneficiaries of Arena’s flood-relief assistance program in Kallugotla village commended our Centre Head Mr. Raja Sekhar for the help extended to the genuinely flood-affected and needy families. He informed us that no organization had come to their help since the floods and that we were the first to provide relief in a systematic and meaningfull manner.

Prior to the journey, Mr. K.Harikrishna, Exec-Admin at Arena DSNR left for Kurnool on 08-10-09 to identify the villages most affected by the flash floods. He personally surveyed 6 villages (Alampur, Pullur, Santhajuturu, Joopadubangla, Sunkesulu & Kallugotla) and found that Kallugotla was amongst the worst-affected villages which received the least help since the floods and so, a list of 200 families were identified in this village and tokens distributed to them to ensure that they genuinely receive our assistance on 10-10-09 when our team would arrive there.

Arena Dilsukhnagar initiated a fundraising drive and collected a significant amount of Rs. 1 lakh. The proceeds were used to purchase food, clothing, utensils and other essential items forming a survival kit for the victims. A total of 200 kits were packed by a team of 20 volunteers at our office on the evening of 9^th October for distribution to 200 flood-affected families in Kallugotla village of Mahaboobnagar district.

Contents of each survival kit worth Rs. 500/- distributed to 200 families:
Rice - 5 kgs, Toor Dal – 500 gms, Channa Dal - 500 gms, Palm Oil - 1 kg, Salt Packet - 1 kg, Red Chilli Powder - 100 gms, Turmeric Powder - 100 gms, Bread Packet – 1, Steel Vessels – 2, Steel Plates – 2, Steel Glasses – 2, Steel Spoon Large – 1, Tooth Powder - 100 gms, Bath Soap – 1, Candles - Large – 1, Match Box – 1, Bed Sheet - 1
